Fireworks Straw Painting Materials
-
Red, white, and blue acrylic paint
-
Black cardstock or construction paper
-
Drinking straws
-
Paper plate or paint tray
-
Scissors
Instructions:
-
Prep the Straws
Make 5–7 small vertical cuts at one end of each straw, and gently press them outward to create a firework “burst” shape. You can vary the cuts to go shorter or longer for different firework patterns. -
Add Paint
Pour red, white, and blue paint onto a paper plate. Dip the cut end of a straw into the paint. -
Stamp the Fireworks
Press the painted straw end onto the black paper. Rotate and press again to layer the burst effect. Repeat with other colors and straws for a full fireworks show! -
Let It Dry
Allow your artwork to dry flat. Once dry, hang it up or use it as a patriotic display!
Tip:
Swap black paper for navy or deep purple for a nighttime sky effect. You can also sprinkle a bit of glitter on top of the wet paint for extra sparkle!
